I can’t handle the cuteness. Or the suspenders. I just can’t.
With our trip to London and Paris just a few weeks away, I’m in full “what the hell do I pack” mode. The temps look like they will range anywhere from lower 50s to mid-60s, meaning layers are going to be the name of the game.
Rather than packing a bunch of different sweaters, which take up precious space, I’d like to get a spring jacket that can be worn comfortably under my rain coat and keep me looking (semi) stylish with all of the chic Londoners and Parisians (good luck with that one..)
As much as I’d like to get this Rebecca Taylor number or this Tibi bomber jacket…I can’t bring myself to spend that much cash. Here are a few I have my eye on—but since I am AWFUL at online shopping—please feel free to send me some of your picks!!
Pink faux leather can go one of two ways- 1) absolutely fabulous; 2) Florida retirement home. Since Shopbop is selling this jacket, I have hope that this one is the former, not the latter.
Sweet lace bomber jacket from Zara
Another Zara number. This fabric looks luxe and I like the soft draping.
A little Lou & Gray number from Loft
How cute is this linen jacket from Forever 21?
New favorite tune. And yes, if you start listening and nodding your head to a familiar tune/lyrics…it is a cover of one of your favorite 90s songs. #onrepeat #stilllovetheoriginaltoo
Thanks to everyone for your feedback on shoes for my upcoming European adventure. Here is a recap of your recommendations:
- Tom’s (multiple posts)
- Tiek’s (multiple posts)
- Converse (one post said ‘yay’ the other ‘nay’)
- Bensimon sneakers
I plan on packing my navy Supergas sneakers for sure- but when it came down to finding another shoe, I knew I wanted something neutral, low-profile and comfortable as hell. I channeled my best Tony Bourdain- he rocks his Clarks Desert boots throughout all of his adventures and travels. They are discreet, match everything, classic shoes that don’t scream “I’M FROM THE MIDWEST AND MY BIG FAT AMERICAN ANKLES DON’T DO WELL ON COBBLESTONE STREETS.”
The Phenia Desert Boot in ‘sand’ is coming with me to London/Paris. I’ll let you know how they work out.
My husband has amazing taste in music. One of my favorite things about our new house is the bluetooth speaker we have set up in the kitchen that we use to play his Spotify tunes while we cook, have a drink or just catch up. He turned me on to Rhye and I am absolutely obsessed. Soft, jazzy and a little bit sexy—it will transport you out of your “HOW THE HELL IS IT ONLY TUESDAY” and “WHY AM I STILL WEARING MY ID BADGE AND BLINDLY EATING THESE STALE PRETZEL CHIPS STANDING UP?” and into a much, much better state.
Go ahead and listen to their most recent album “Woman” and thank me later. Or thank John.
I’m headed to London/Paris at the end of April and I’m on the hunt for stylish and comfortable shoes that I can tromp all over town in without bleeding/blistering. I’m not really a “sneakers” person but I do have a pair of Supergas that I love. Would love your recommendations for shoes that make me look cool- please include links! If you can’t comment here, shoot me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks in advance for your great advice!
