Current Etsy crushes
A few new faves to add to the mix:
Pretty monogrammed guest towels for a mere $22. Great hostess gift idea!
Love these funky succulents (just $18!) I’d put one on top of a pile of books.
Fun little tray with a vintage Palm Beach vibe.

Leather leggings- hot or hot mess?
I’m loving the leather legging look for Fall. A flowy sweater or silky blouse with flats for day; blazer and heels/suede booties for night. However, I have a feeling that this look can go REALLY poorly in a millisecond. Like say, if your hips are larger than a 12 year-old boy’s.
I found this pair from Asos for $40 and I’m tempted:
I’m a little afraid of the...

Craigslist find of the week
Here’s the latest segment for EAH. I’m going to post a Craigslist find of the week. I’ll stick to the Triangle, but may sprinkle in some D.C. finds to make it interesting. Here are a super cute pair of Staffordshire dogs for $60 in Chapel Hill. Click here if you’re interested!

Weekend in pictures
Hi friends,
Whew. What a weekend. I’m currently battling a huge cold/sinus infection but it was totally worth it. After a fun Friday night spent at Humble Pie on the patio (the weather was KILLER), husband and I woke up to some VERY GOOD NEWS on Saturday morning—he passed the NC Bar!
My thoughts exactly.
And after that, we continued to have more fun! Let’s review, shall...

Take me away, Chardonnay...
Kathie Lee is telling People Magazine that she witnessed Taylor Swift crashing the Kennedy wedding last weekend. Okay first: typical Tay Sway move. Who is honestly surprised that she found a way to make someone else’s ONE SPECIAL WEEKEND about her? (Sorry..just realized I have a lot of hate for Tay Sway.) Second: I would be WAY more excited to be at a wedding where Kathie Lee was in...

Nothing chintzy about chintz
This weekend, the article in the Free Decorator column in the Wall Street Journal stopped me in my tracks. Very hip Sara Costello was writing about the merits of chintz in home decor. I have to admit, when chintz is used with restraint, it looks pretty spectacular. Or in the case of the Greenbrier, it looks amazing when it is not used with restraint.
What key search words on Craigslist do you...

Lust list: Gray Malin photography
I recently discovered Gray Malin photography through a One Kings Lane sale. And now I’m dying to have one of his beach scenes for our bedroom.
At $250 a pop, a Gray Malin print purchase will have to remain on the back burner for now…which could be a good thing because I can’t figure out which one is my favorite! You can see all of their work here.

Who wants a new coffee table?
Ladies (and gents) in the Triangle area-
Interested in a new coffee table for $75 from the one-and-only Furbish boutique? I bought this great piece two and a half years ago, but since my recent Craigslist acquisition, I don’t have a place for it in our tiny home. Email me via the listing or at excellenceasahabit@gmail.com if you are interested!

Slow clap for RPatz
Someone came out of hiding looking GOOD. K Stew who? Good for you RPatz. Good for you. If you need a shoulder to cry on, holler back. Mine are especially wide after my gastro-tour through Chicago.

We're back!
Chicago was AWESOME. Props to those of you on Tumblr who live there- good choice. We left humid, sticky, 107 degree heat to a breezy 78 and I think I may have kissed the ground when I put on a cardigan.
Here are some of the highlights from our trip!
Our hotel, Public Chicago, was even more legit in person. Absolutely gorgeous. It also smelled incredible- like firewood/fir/leather. I later...

Chicago trip tomorrow!
To celebrate the end of Bar studying, I’ve planned a long weekend trip to Chicago for me and Loafers. We’re leaving tomorrow morning, and I’m so excited. Here are some highlights of what we will be doing- but if I’m missing anything, you fabulous bloggers need to let us know!
Where we are staying: Public Chicago
What we’re seeing and/or doing: Millenium Park

Poaching on Craigslist
I found a deal so good on Craigslist last week, I’m still pinching myself- and waiting for someone to bust through my front door to take back said deal.
There I was, just perusing Craigslist on a Saturday night (yep, you read that right) and I stumbled upon a posting for a vintage Oriental-style coffee table for $30. Clearly, I had to investigate. And this is what I found:

Sid Mashburn
While Loafers and I were in Georgia celebrating a wedding, we took a detour on Friday to the Sid and Ann Mashburn stores in Atlanta. I knew that the Sid Mashburn store would be beautiful- I guess I just didn’t realize how very cool it would be. Music playing on vinyl records; stunning kilim rugs; chesterfield sofas with just the right patina. And books everywhere. If my husband ever turns up...

ATL-iens
This weekend, we celebrated a dear friend and his now-wife as they got married in Roswell, GA. Many bourbon drinks were enjoyed, and some Krystal burgers may or may not have been consumed at the hotel poolside. We also got to meet some amazing new people, who I know both Loafers and I sincerely hope to hang out with again soon. Congratulations, Maggie and Britt (or, “Braggie”)- we...
H&M to offer home collection in U.S. starting in... →
You guys. This is such exciting news! Granted, the podunk Raleigh store will probably only get a throw pillow per fiscal quarter, I am still very pumped. You city mice- I’m super jeal.

Headed to Atlanta where the players play..
To celebrate a great friend and his soon-to-be-wife as they get married this weekend! So thrilled for both of them, and I’m equally as excited to have so many of our great friends together in one place for the entire weekend. Hope you guys have a great weekend-I promise I’ll be back on my blogging game next week.

McKayla Maroney: Gold medalist in vault and hugs
Literally. This girl rocked her one event and then proceeded to smother her teammates in hugs after each of their events. I even saw her bulldoze Jordyn Wieber to give Gaby her first hug after Gaby’s floor routine. At one point she was leading the stadium in U-S-A cheers. If you had any doubts about who is having the most fun at the Olympics, I can tell you without a doubt it’s...
