Flower arranging 101
I think it would be safe to say that I struggled through this course. I attended a BYOB flower arranging class on Tuesday night with a few friends and had a delightful, if not slightly stressful, time. First issue- we were the only group who showed up with wine. I mean…come on! The Groupon billed this activity as BYOB. I kept feeling side judge-y glances from Cindy who did her arrangement in...
Cheers to the freakin' weekend...
Have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone! I’ll be kicking it with friends and family in Wilmington and hopefully getting a little sun tan while I’m there. See ya Tuesday!

Put a cork (on) it
I saw these Miles Redd images on Simply Smitten the other day and I’m officially putting cork walls in my dream house portfolio effectively IMMEDIATELY.
Check it out:
It’s part beach house, part California winery…all awesome. Not sure how one goes about getting a wall covered in cork, but I’m willing to put the research in. What do you guys think of this look?

This happened on Tuesday.
I was awarded this little lady for my five-year work anniversary:
Oh yeah, you read that right- it’s a juicer (a HAMILTON BEACH juicer, no less) with a 350 watt motor! I picked it out from the online catalog a few weeks ago and received it and a lapel pin (yep, that’s a thing) to commemorate my years of service.
You know what they say- shoot for the moon kids, and you may just...

Make this: Buffalo turkey burgers
I’m still patting myself on the back for these delicious Skinnytaste turkey burgers that I made on Monday night. They have a hefty dose of buffalo sauce and you top them with broccoli slaw mixed with homemade light blue cheese dressing. Yep, I went there. Instead of a bun, I just put my turkey burger (topped with cheese, duh) on a bed of lettuce and it was just as delightful. I highly...
TYT: Ear candy
How gorgeous are these Dara Ettinger earrings? I love the coral and turquoise pairing, and they make such a fabulous statement. You can find them on Shopbop.com for a cool price of around $300. Happy shopping!

Wine & Design abstract art class is HAPPENING.
After my post on Friday, I decided to call the Wine & Design in Five Points re: abstract art class. While they said they didn’t technically offer it, they would do it happily for a private party (!) Here are the details for all of you Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill peeps who are interested:
-Attendance: We need a minimum of 10 people, max 35 people, to have a session
-Cost: $35 (the normal...
Guest blogging at the long and short of it
My real-life and blog friend, Jessie, featured a guest post from yours truly on her “Dream Kitchen” series on her blog last week. Check it out here, and make sure to explore her blog- she has fabulous taste in all things home and fashion! Oh and two cute dogs.

Million dollar idea? Wine & Design: Abstract art
So, I had an idea the other night and I did some Googling to see if it had been done in the Raleigh/surrounding Triangle area and it looks like it hasn’t so I’m going to go ahead and give my self a silent fist pump for this idea until someone emails me and lets me know that, in fact, this has already been done and can kill my dreams confidentially.
Okay, here it goes- you know those...

Really into: Buffalo check
Lately, I’m really into black and white buffalo check. Not sure where it came from, but I’m smitten. Let’s see it in action, shall we?
This girl is rocking this top like it’s her job. The demure jacket doesn’t hurt.

Mindy Kaling's new show looks pretty amazing.
I’ve been a huge fan of Kelly Kapoor, aka Mindy Kaling, since Season One of the Office. I’m thrilled she is starring in a new show this fall- and it looks hilarious. Check out the trailer here.

Treat Yourself Tuesday: What a stud
Personally I think Jonathan Adler is getting a wee bit played out, but when I saw this studded box of his, I immediately regretted my negative thoughts. I love the dose of edge this accessory adds to a space and would love to see it as part of a vignette somewhere. Like maybe my coffee table. Click here for more info and where to buy.
We've all been there.
This video is hilarious- and I can certainly attest to the fact this has happened to me multiple times..daily.
No, not you-ing

Weekend in pictures
Lots to celebrate this weekend between law school graduation, a birthday and Mother’s Day. We squeezed it all in, had a fabulous time and are still recovering.
Trying to grow some fresh herbs and flowers on the front porch and back patio. We will see how this goes…
Mom and dad came to town Saturday and Sunday. Dad whipped up an amazing Mother’s Day brunch with...

It's a graduation + birthday EXTRAVAGANZA
Loafers is graduating law school today (thank God) and it’s my birthday today! Lots of celebrations to be had and I’m planning on at least two cucumber-prosecco infused beverages…by lunch.
To all of my dear friends- thank you for all of the love and support you’ve shown us as we’ve navigated the law school waters. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Lies.
I love you B, but I refuse to believe this headline:
Beyonce Does Her Own Makeup-And Cuts Her Own Hair
Otherwise, what chance do us NORMAL PEOPLE have?!
Treat Yourself Tuesday: Sorbet stripes
I’m loving this Alice + Olivia blouse I saw on a blog last week. The front looks like your typical preppy top, but the back has a fun little ruffle to add a flirty kick to your outfit. Looks like they are sold out for now, for good reason!

Weekend in review
We spent a glorious weekend down at Holden Beach, which included stops in Southport, lots of punch in styrofoam cups and sunburned noses. Summer feels so close!
New beach bag at Target. Love it!
A pair of ceramic pugs. Still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on these. However, people may stop coming to my home if I continue to amass ceramic animals at the pace I’m keeping.

S.O.S.
Blog friends,
I’d like to introduce my mother. These were her two texts sent in distress Friday afternoon after my father (the aforementioned “Captain Keds” for his habits and surname) took a tumble in one of of his beloved boats this weekend.
Apparently the one-hour-long wait in the ER was a bit too much for Francie, so she sought solace and stitches in a nearby urgent...

Pouf there it is
Now that our patio is no longer an urban jungle, I’m looking for new items to make it a cozy place to enjoy a glass of wine, eat al fresco or have coffee in the morning.
I love these little woven poufs from Target- you can use them as ottomans or side tables to hold your drink. I’m also kind of feeling the funky colors mixed in with some traditional elements. Click the photo to order...

Treat yourself Tuesday: Here comes the sun
I’m looking forward to a long weekend spent at a sleepy beach in N.C. with the husband to celebrate the close of law school. Given my upcoming plans, I chose two items that I’d love to have with me while I’m at the beach:
Crocheted straw hat from JCREW. I’m a freak about covering up my face from the sun and I love how a hat stylishly prevents sunburns. I actually got...
